Transparent Election Initiative To Host Virtual Webinars to Explain “Print, Sign, Submit” Process
HELENA, Montana — The Transparent Election Initiative (TEI) announced that it will host virtual webinars on Tuesday and Thursday evenings to teach Montana voters how to mail in signatures for ballot measure I-194, also called “The Montana Plan,” which aims to eliminate dark money influence in Montana elections by redefining what powers Montana gives to corporations.
The webinars will be held at 7 p.m. MST every Tuesday and Thursday evening until Monday, June 15th. The last webinar will be held on Monday, June 15th. Each meeting is free and open to the public. Interested voters can visit https://luma.com/transparentelection to register to attend and receive a Zoom link.
The webinars will be short discussions and demonstrations explaining how registered Montana voters can self-submit their signatures for I-194. Registered Montana voters can review the initiative text, print out the official I-194 petition form and unsworn declaration, sign the petition, complete an unsworn declaration, then mail their signed form and declaration to TEI’s P.O. Box in Helena or deliver to their local County Clerk’s office.
“These webinars are designed to make the ‘Print, Sign, Submit’ process clearer and more approachable to anyone who wants an easy way to fight back against dark money in Montana politics,” says Jeff Mangan, founder of the Transparent Election Initiative. “At TEI, we want the signing process to be as convenient as possible for voters across Montana, especially rural communities.”
If passed, the Montana Plan would redefine the powers granted by the state of Montana to corporations and other artificial entities, preventing them from spending money to influence elections. All signatures are due on June 19th and are part of a petition to put I-194 on Montana’s statewide ballot in November.
