Jeff Mangan to Join Bipartisan Panel at Montana State University on Money in Politics and Public Trust
BOZEMAN, Montana — The Transparent Election Initiative (TEI) announced that its founder, Jeff Mangan, will participate in an upcoming public panel at Montana State University examining the role of money in politics and the importance of transparent, accountable elections.
The event, titled “Public Things: Money, Transparent Elections & the Montana Experience,” will be hosted by the Public Things Project on Friday, April 10 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Gaines Hall, with a livestream option available.
Mangan will join a bipartisan and multi-partisan panel that includes former U.S. Senator Jon Tester, former Governor Marc Racicot, and Michael Beckel of Issue One. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Sara Rushing of MSU’s Department of Political Science.
The panel will bring together leaders with diverse political backgrounds to discuss the influence of money in elections, the need for transparency, and Montana’s longstanding role in addressing political corruption. Mangan will contribute TEI’s perspective on strengthening public trust and reducing the outsized influence of undisclosed political spending.
The conversation comes as TEI continues its broader efforts to advance a proposed 2026 statewide ballot initiative aimed at addressing the role of corporate and dark money in Montana elections, an approach that recent polling from Issue One found is supported by roughly three-quarters of Montana voters across party lines
“Montana has a deep tradition of confronting corruption and defending fair elections,” said Mangan. “We’re excited to join this conversation at Montana State University alongside leaders from across the political spectrum to engage the public on these critical issues.”
